Due to Rubio Monocoat’s proprietary technology of molecular bonding on the surface of the wood, square foot coverage is much greater than traditional systems. Depending upon the porosity of the wood, Oil Plus 2C will cover from 300 – 450 SF with just one liter! Keep in mind, 1 gallon equals 3.8 liters. Rubio Monocoat is a one-coat system! Conversely, traditional systems cover around about only 350 SF per gallon and they typically require two to three coats before completion. This results in durable protection and sharp coloring in one single layer. Once the fibers are bonded with the oil, the wood does not absorb any surplus product – which makes a second layer superfluous.
