More About Sweet Pickins All-Natural Beeswax
Milk Paint has a soft, matte character, and a good wax keeps that feel intact while adding protection. Sweet Pickins All-Natural Beeswax is hand-poured from natural ingredients and is VOC-free. It is made with beeswax, carnauba wax, and a natural solvent, with a light citrus scent in the Clear.
This wax contains no drying agents, which gives you plenty of time to work. Apply a very thin coat, wipe with a clean, lint-free cloth until you like the look, and buff to a low sheen or a high shine. The wax takes a few days to dry fully to the touch, and a small pot lasts through many projects.
A wax brush reaches into every nook and cranny and makes an even coat easier to apply. If a finished piece picks up a scratch, rub a little wax over the spot and rebuff it. Clean brushes with a brush cleaner made for waxes.
Here at Eco Building Products, we offer Sweet Pickins All-Natural Beeswax in five options.
-
Clear. This non-yellowing formula lets the paint color show through. It suits light and bright colors where you want protection without shifting the shade.
-
Dark. A brown tint settles into texture and detail for an antiqued look. It is a favorite for adding depth to dressers and decorative accents.
-
Black. The deepest tint produces dramatic shadowing and strong contrast on distressed pieces. Blend it with Clear to soften the effect.
-
White. This version lightens and softens the surface for an airy, weathered tone. Test it on a hidden area first to confirm how it plays with your paint color.
-
Beeswax Bar (Wax Resist). This 3.2 oz bar is made from pure yellow beeswax and olive oil, and it measures about 2" x 3". Rub it on areas where you want paint to release, then paint over the top. Sand or scrape later for natural, authentically aged wear patterns without the struggle.
Apply tinted waxes over the whole piece like a glaze, or concentrate them in corners, crevices and detailed areas to highlight the details. Apply over a layer of Clear Wax for a lighter effect, or directly over milk paint for a deeper, more saturated look. Because our waxes contain no artificial drying agents, you have plenty of working time.
Tips
- Apply with a wax brush to reach all the nooks and crannies. Apply a thin, even layer, then wipe and blend with a clean, lint-free cloth. Without drying agents, wax may take a few days to become fully dry to the touch.
- A little wax goes a long way, so a small pot lasts through many projects.
- To clean wax from your brushes, use Little White Lye Brush Cleaner.
- If your piece gets scratched, apply a little wax to the area and rebuff.

Beeswax Bar – Wax Resist for Distressing
Made from pure yellow beeswax and olive oil, each bar weighs 3.2 oz. and measures about 2″ × 3″. Rub it on corners, edges and other areas that would naturally wear, then paint over it. After the paint dries, sand the surface: the waxed areas resist the paint and chip away to reveal the layer underneath. Use a light touch, warm the bar in your hands first, and practice on scrap wood if it's your first time. The ingredients are food-safe and safe for your skin.
