Marmoleum Concrete is built from up to 98% natural raw materials, mainly linseed oil, pine rosin, PEFC-certified wood flour, limestone, natural pigments, and a woven jute backing; no PVC, phthalates, plasticizers, or mineral oil anywhere in the formulation. The 2.5 mm sheet carries 36% recycled content and is manufactured entirely on renewable electricity, and Forbo publishes a cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of -0.67 kg CO2e/m².
That negative figure comes from the plants themselves: flax, jute, and trees sequester more CO2 while growing than the harvesting, transport, and manufacturing chain emits, achieved without purchasing offsets. The contrast with cement is stark, since Portland cement production is one of the largest single industrial sources of global CO2 emissions. Practical Upkeep and Where It Performs

Routine maintenance is dust mopping plus a damp mop with Marmoleum floor cleaner. No wax, polish, or stripping is ever required. Avoid ammonia, high-alkaline cleaners, and abrasive powders, which can permanently damage the finish. Seams in sheet installations can be heat-welded with a color-matched rod to create a fully watertight, hygienic surface, making this approach viable in wet-prone areas where a butt-fit seam wouldn't be appropriate.
