Terra is the most recent addition to the Marmoleum Marbled collection, and the youngest design in the family also happens to be the most geologically literal. Where Marmoleum Real drifts and Fresco softens, Terra compresses. The pattern appears busy at close range, resolves into a rich mineral field from standing height, and never looks as a printed imitation of stone because it isn't one.
Four Colors of Terra, No Filler
Marmoleum Terra is deliberately the smallest range in the Marbled collection. River Bank, Alpine Mist, Weathered Sand, and Pink Granite make up the entire offering. Each one is named for a specific natural condition rather than an abstract shade, and the restraint works in the range's favor.
Alpine Mist is the quiet, neutral grey that suits almost any application, carrying an LRV of 31%. River Bank and Weathered Sand sit in warm, grounded neutral territory. Pink Granite is the outlier, bringing a genuinely distinctive warmth that lifts a room without shouting. Four options may sound limiting. In practice, it means every one of them was worth manufacturing.
Where the Pattern Earns Its Keep
Forbo pairs Terra's tight structure directly with soil-hiding performance and superior appearance retention, recommending it specifically for high-traffic areas. Small-scale, high-contrast marbling breaks up the visual field so effectively that grit, scuffs, and tracked-in dirt lose their outline against it. Entrance lobbies, school corridors, retail floors, and busy kitchens all benefit. Terra also mixes readily with other Marmoleum flooring designs, so it can serve as the hard-working perimeter or entry zone while a softer Fresco or Real field handles the calmer interior.
The Material Underneath Marmoleum Terra
Nothing about Terra's mineral appearance is mineral in origin. It is built from a natural blend of linseed oil, pine rosin, wood flour, limestone, natural pigments, and jute, reaching up to 98% natural bio-based materials. PVC, phthalates, plasticizers, and mineral oil are all absent from the formulation. The pattern is created by pressing differently colored linoleum granules through the full body of the sheet, which is why it cannot abrade away.
Forbo manufactures it on 100% renewable electricity with no process water and 36% recycled content, publishing a cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of -0.67 kg CO2e/m² achieved through plant sequestration rather than offsets. Allergy UK approval, verified bacteriostatic behavior, and very low VOC emissions apply here as they do across the range.
Marmoleum Terra Flooring Specification and Upkeep
Terra ships at 2.5 mm in rolls 79” wide, rated Class 34 for heavy commercial and Class 43 for light industrial traffic. All four colors can be produced in a 3.5 mm Marmoleum Decibel construction with 18 dB of impact sound reduction, subject to minimum order and lead time, and color-matched welding rods allow seams to be heat-welded into a continuous watertight surface.
Topshield arrives factory-cured, so waxing, polishing, and stripping are permanently off the maintenance schedule. Dust mop regularly and damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner between 7.0 and 8.5. Ammonia, high-alkaline products, and abrasive powders will cause irreversible damage, so keep them well away.
