Solatube's solar lighting systems are DIY systems, easily installed. Many of our customers install
themselves or contract out a handyman or carpenter to do it for them. The Solatube 160DS kit come with
everything you need and can be installed within a few hours.

the run from the Top Dome on the roof to the Diffuser in the

Single Pack Kit Option Information
Select your Solatube Metal Roof Flashing:

Pitched metal flashing is used for
roofs with a pitch of 4:12 - 12:12. It includes two 16" extension tubes, for a total of 43" of
tube length.

No pitch metal
flashing is used for roofs that have little to no pitch. Flat roofs and roofs
with pitches 0:12 to 3:12. There may be only 11" or less distance between the ceiling penetration
and the roof penetration. So there are not any extension tubes for a total 11" tube length. We
recommend that you purchase at least one 16' extension tube, however, to make connecting the roof
deck penetration and the ceiling penetration less difficult.
- If you are installing onto a metal roof use Solatube Metal Roof Flashing. It is
sold separately.
- If you are installing on a clay tile roof, use Solatube Universal Tile Flashing for clay tile roofs (Tile Flashing requires standard pitched or
no-pitch flashing as a base).

Solatube Extension Tube Options: Bring light in from the sun with the correct tube
length.
- The no-pitch metal flashing kit does not
have extension tubes. It spans only 11 inches, so your system will most likely need at least
one 16" or 24" extension tube.

The Pitched Metal Flashing kit has two 16"
extension tubes, so its extension tubes will span up to 43".

No Tubes: This option is for those with 11" or less between the ceiling and
roof. This is extremely rare. We recommend purchasing at least one 16' extension tube to make
connecting the roof deck penetration and the ceiling penetration more difficult.

Two 16" Extension Tubes (additional cost): This option is for
those with a span between ceiling and roof up to 43". More Solatube Extension Tubes are
available if you need to span more than 43".

Available Accessories for
the Solatube 160DS
Solatube Light Add On Kit: When
equipped with a light add on kit, the Solatube Daylighting System provides the convenience of a
switched light for night time use. Adding a light to your Solatube means you will always have the
light you need. Available in Compact Fluorescent and Incandescent. Bulbs are sold separately. Light
Add-on Kits do not include extension tubes. Bulbs are 23W (4-pin connector) for Compact fluorescent
and 100W for Incandescent kits.
Solatube Ventilation Add-On Kit: (Roof Vent Cap sold separately):
The Solatube 160 DS is available with an optional Ventilation Add-On Kit that’s designed for
exceptional style and performance. When combined with this innovative accessory, the 2-in-1 ceiling
fixture minimizes ceiling penetrations for a more attractive look. Proprietary technology uses twin
fan motors with opposing rotations to overcome static pressure and increase the speed and volume of
airflow. The in-line fan motors can be mounted away from the ceiling fixtures for quieter
performance. Blends with any decor.
Solatube Daylight Dimmer:
(Dimmer switch sold separately): Because you don’t need 100% of the light 100% of the
time. The innovative Solatube Daylight Dimmer easily controls the amount of light desired in any
room from a Solatube skylight. Designed for maximum comfort and ease of use, simply adjust the
desired light level from the convenience of a switch.
Solatube Thermal Insulation
Panel: In Cold Climates the thermal insulation panel keeps cold out to reduce
heat loss and in warm climates prevents heat build up which improves energy efficiency and reduces
cooling loads.
