AFM Safecoat Roofguard Roof Coating is a water-based, low-odor roof coating that is ideal for properly primed roofs. It is mildew and water-resistant and resists weather elements. It has excellent bridging quality and can be used to patch, seal and bridge hairline cracks. Excellent elongation and waterproofing qualities when applied at proper film thickness.
USE ON:
Properly primed roofs made of synthetic plastic
rubber, metal, concrete or clay tile.
LIMITATIONS:
Safecoat paints are made without formaldehyde preservatives. Do not contaminate. Store in airtight containers. Do not use when temperatures are below 55 degrees F. Do not freeze.
Thick application, high humidity or conditions other than normal will cause Safecoat to dry and cure more slowly.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Clean surfaces of dirt, grease, mildew and oil.
Existing coatings must be tight and water-resistant before applying Safecoat RoofGuard over the top. Existing coatings may let go from surface when top-coated with elastomeric coatings if they have weak bond. Check before application. Patch surface defects with appropriate material and prime before top-coating. One or more coats of Safecoat DynoSeal makes an excellent primer before the application of RoofGuard. Use Safecoat DynoFlex Textured Natural on cracks and allow patch to dry before applying topcoat.
APPLICATION:
Before using, stir Safecoat Roofguard well, then apply as is. Apply with a roller or airless sprayer. Two coats are recommended. Adequate film thickness determines the life and protection of the coating.
COVERAGE:
100 square feet per gallon. Rougher or more porous surfaces may require more material. 15 mils dry film thickness is recommended for best protection. Maximum protection can be achieved with use in a roof system when applied with Safecoat DynoSeal for a total dry film thickness of 30 mils.
CLEAN-UP:
Clean tools and equipment while they are still wet with a warm soapy water solution.
DRYING/CURING TIME: Re-coatable after 2 hours in normal conditions. Normal conditions include a dry surface, access to fresh air flow, moderate humidity, and temperatures above 55 degrees F. Temperature should remain above 55 degrees F during first 12 hours of coating cure cycle.
HEALTH PRECAUTIONS:
As with all coatings and sealers, keep container tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not take internally. Keep from freezing. Always use adequate ventilation.
